Flavour Profile
From the fourth-generation De Martino family, Alto de Piedras shows what elegance, power and richness can be achieved in Chile's best sites. The family left Italy for South America in 1934 and made the Cachapoal Valley their home. They now have the largest holdings of organic vineyards in Chile, so their wines can show a sense of "place, purity and balance".
In 1996, the family bottled and labelled the first ever Chilean Carménère from this very vineyard in Isla de Maipo. The wine remains a standard bearer for Carménère in Chile.
The 2022 vintage has a string of top scores from the wine press, including 97 points from Descorchados and 94 points from Tim Atkin MW. With luscious dark berry fruit, herbal notes, pepper and spice, it makes for sensational drinking.
