An elegant tribute to one of Champagne’s leading ladies, Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé honours the bold and visionary spirit of Madame Clicquot.
There's a reason Veuve Clicquot is adored worldwide and one of the Champagne region's most famous names. Madame Clicquot took over the estate in 1805 and created the first crystal-clear Champagne. This she did by inventing the technique of riddling – using a special rack to enable the yeast to be collected in the neck of the bottle. It was under her guidance that Veuve Clicquot became the Champagne house we know today. In 1818, she was also the first to make a rosé Champagne by adding a little red wine from Bouzy.
La Grande Dame is their finest release – a blend of eight Grands Crus, mostly Pinot Noir, with the red wine from Clos Colin in Bouzy – that honours Madame Clicquot’s legacy. Widely regarded as an exceptional year, the 2018 vintage is generous and precise, with vibrant red fruit, subtle spices and a long, velvety finish.
