Flavour Profile
Château Cantemerle is one of the most popular Cru Classé châteaux, as the wines offer Bordeaux classicism at an exceptional price. It lies in the southern Médoc, just below Margaux, and Cantemerle often has a Margaux-like perfume and allure. That’s certainly the case with this superb 2020 vintage.
The winemaking is overseen by Bordeaux legend Eric Boissenot, who has consulted at four of the five First Growths. No wonder this overdelivers, with concentrated dark, brooding fruit and excellent ageing potential.
“Aromas of blackcurrants and kirsch with hints of dried blood orange, licorice and cocoa. Medium- to full-bodied with layers of well-integrated, finely polished tannins. Structured and toned with a fresh and lively fruit-forward palate, seasoned with spices and dried herbs”, 94 points, James Suckling.
