Flavour Profile
Château La Serre is a small, well-placed estate just outside Saint-Émilion, close to the legendary Pavie Macquin. Dating back to the 17th century, it’s now cared for by the renowned Moueix family of Pétrus fame.
‘La Serre’ means greenhouse – a nod to the sunny exposure of its seven hectares of vines. As you’d expect in Saint-Émilion, they’re mostly Merlot with a dash of Cabernet Franc.
Here’s a rare chance to enjoy a mature example from the 2014 vintage, now drinking beautifully. Decanter gave it 88 points, noting “red fruit with a little toast on the nose. Palate accented towards the fruit … harmonious”.
Aged in 50% new French oak, it shows real finesse and richness. Nicely structured, polished and elegant – a classic Saint-Émilion at its peak.
Serve with roast lamb, beef Wellington or a rich mushroom risotto – perfect partners for its silky Merlot charm.
