Flavour Profile
For a top-quality Loire Sauvignon Blanc without the high Sancerre price tag, search out the Coteaux du Giennois. It’s a tiny appellation of 200 hectares just north of Pouilly-Fumé that also specialises in this much-loved white grape. But being such a small region, its wines are much less well known.
Here you’ll find Christophe Monget at his small family domaine. Formerly arable farmers with a few livestock, the Mongets converted their modest 23 hectares of prized Loire soil to vines. And this is the impressive result. Pristine Sauvignon Blanc, with bright grassy, tangerine and citrus aromas and ultra-fresh lemon and mineral-crisp flavours on the palate. A superbly elegant white to serve on its own, but even better with all sorts of seafood. Chill and enjoy.
