El Bombero Magnum 2024

Spain has a reputation for producing gloriously rich reds – and El Bombero is a superb example. One of our bestselling wines, it’s loved for its velvet smoothness and dark fruit flavours.
Following the retirement of the original mastermind, Javier Domeque, winemaker Jesús Prieto is now in charge of crafting this beauty. He does so in remote Cariñena, a region that Decanter calls “home to some of the best-value reds in the world". In this sun-soaked corner of Spain, extreme heat, old vines and near-desert conditions help Garnacha (the same grape as Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s Grenache) truly thrive.
The grapes come from low-yielding, ancient vines – challenging to maintain, but worth the effort for the exceptional ripeness, depth and concentration they produce.
The result is a sumptuous red wine with juicy mouthfuls of ripe blackberry, raspberry and cherry, wrapped in a spicy, velvety finish. With such intense flavours, El Bombero is a delicious match for casseroles, full-flavoured pasta dishes or barbecues. Or simply enjoy a glass on its own.
Even better? Enjoy all that black-fruited richness in this impressive, made-for-sharing magnum.
