Spain’s Navarra region is full of surprises, producing styles that range from the traditional and oaky to the most modern and fresh. Flor de San Martín Garnacha Blanca is certainly in the latter camp.
A brilliantly zippy, fabulously fresh white wine, it’s made only from grapes grown in high-altitude vineyards in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The combination of little rainfall and dizzying heights results in wines that are full of intense crisp fruit and lifted herbal aromas.
Flor de San Martín is made by winemaker Gonzalo Ceyaleta, who works his magic at the modern San Martín de Unx winery, founded in 1914. Using select parcels of hand-harvested grapes, this is a refreshing white that’s full of character. Enjoy it chilled with lighter chicken dishes or seafood.
