Sangarida Pico Tuerto 2022

From the renowned Tempranillo-based Riojas to the bold Garnacha wines of Priorat, Spain is known for producing red wines that balance power, complexity and elegance. Sangarida Pico Tuerto is no exception. Made by brothers Robustiano and Baldomero Fariña, Sangarida is a daring project that champions the rare, native grapes of Spain’s Bierzo region.
Following the family tradition and history of Attis Bodegas y Viñedos, the Fariña brothers have expanded their philosophy of championing Spain’s rare, native grapes. Together with their longtime friend Jean-François Hébrard, they embarked on a new project, named Sangarida, in Bierzo.
Pico Tuerto is named after one of the most important peaks in the Aquilianos Mountains. It’s made using old-vine Mencía grapes grown in the San Lorenzo area, sheltered by Pico Tuerto, and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. It’s brimming with ripe red and black fruit, oak spice and mineral hints, with a velvety texture and impressive complexity. Enjoy this wine alongside red meats, hearty stews, venison or aged cheeses.
